MY DAD
40 years of knowing you,
40 years of having a pillar in my life,
Someone to be there through love, laughter, tears,
To talk about achievements and fears.
Stable…like a rock that would never shift,
Always there to lift my spirits, ground me,
Support my dreams as they evolve,
No judgement, just love to have and hold.
You said having children was your greatest pride,
I hope you know that having you by my side
As I have grown, has meant more than words can say,
And pride works both ways… I am the lucky one.
You came from Italy as a boy,
Learnt to thrive, made friends for life,
Worked hard with a passion that never faltered,
Your love for mum unaltered year after year.
You are quite simply the most wonderful man,
A man my husband had to aspire to be.
In him, you gained a son, embracing him
Into the family, with warmth and security.
10 years my daughter has known you,
10 years of holding my daughter in your arms,
Her precious Nonno, who won her heart with a charming
bond that could never break.
Words could never express my thanks to you,
My love for you and true respect and admiration.
I hope to continue your values and legacy to leave
An imprint on the world, as you have left an imprint…
…on my heart.
